NewRecipe Book: cook dishes for temporary boosts

1.52 introduces the Recipe Book, a new feature where you cook dishes over real time and activate them like potions for temporary boosts. It's rolling out as a random playtest, so not every account has it yet.

Recipe Book

The Recipe Book is a collection of 15 dishes you unlock as you progress through cities. Each dish is cooked over real time and, once ready, becomes a one-time boost you can save and activate whenever it's most useful. Higher-tier dishes take longer to cook but give stronger or longer boosts.

How it works

  1. 1Tap the newRecipe Book iconRecipe Book icon in the upper-left of the game. If you don't see it, you're not in the playtest.
  2. 2Select a dish and tap Cook, then wait. Only one dish can cook at a time. Cooking takes from about 30 minutes up to several hours, and the timer keeps running while you're away. You can watch up to 3 ads per dish to speed up the cook time (the speedup varies by dish).
  3. 3When it's ready, the dish is added to your Potions tab, where you activate it like a potion for a temporary boost.

Playtest FAQ

I'm on 1.52 but don't see the Recipe Book. What gives?
The Recipe Book is a playtest feature, so it's only enabled for a random subset of accounts. Being on 1.52+ doesn't guarantee access. If you have it, a new Recipe Book icon appears in the upper-left of the main screen; if that icon isn't there, you haven't been assigned into the test.
How does the game decide who gets it?
During a playtest, eligibility is a random draw seeded from your save game ID, done independently per feature. It's luck of the draw, not tied to play time, spending, or progress, and updating sooner or later doesn't change the outcome. One of the developers posted a technical breakdown of the rollout logic on Reddit:Dev explanation on r/eatventureofficial
When do the dishes unlock?
Dishes unlock as you clear more cities. The first dish is available right away, and the rest open on a fixed schedule. That schedule is relative: it's anchored to the city you're on when the Recipe Book first appears, so each dish unlocks a set number of cities after that point rather than at fixed world city numbers. The spacing between dishes is the same for everyone.
What does cooking a dish actually do?
Pick a dish and tap Cook. Only one dish can cook at a time. It takes from about 30 minutes up to several hours to finish, and the timer keeps running while you're away. You can watch up to 3 ads per dish to speed up the cook time (the speedup varies by dish). When it's ready, the dish is added to your Potions tab, where you activate it like a potion for a temporary boost (faster food, more profit, instant cooking, and so on).
